Alleged 13-inch Retina MacBook Spotted in Geekbench Logs

13-inch Retina MacBook

Late last month, test results for an unreleased “MacBook Pro 10,2” device running OS X 10.8 and powered by a 2.9Ghz Intel Core i7-3520M Ivy Bridge chip first surfaced in Geekbench logs. According to the sole listing for the system, it earned 7806 points.

While being significantly less than 10999 points scored by the new 15-inch MacBook Pro featuring a Retina Display and a2.3Ghz Intel Core i7-3615QM CPU, that’s still more than scores of about 5000 awarded to 13-inch MacBook Pros released in early 2011. New MacBook Air

Nearly five years have passed since the MacBook Air was introduced. Apple built it to be the lightest Apple laptop in existence, it was the first of its kind and it gave us a sneak peek of the future. However, the first product was very expensive and it had many disadvantages: it was slow, it had a small storage and only one USB port. Apple continued to make better iterations for the MacBook. This led to a new iteration of the MacBook Air, the mid-2012 version of the MacBook Air.

iMac

According to Instapaper creator Marco Arment, the necessity of a Retina Display with a screen resolution of 5120×2880 for the next-generation iMac, either inside the 27-inch machine or as a standalone display, is probably the biggest hurdle to launching significant update to this line.

Since ABC News claimed last month that Apple was readying Retina-equipped iMacs for an imminent launch, industry watchers have been eagerly looking forward to new, ultrahigh-resolution desktops. However, Arment has reportedly heard that while the long-awaited iMac update would arrive this fall it wouldn’t feature a Retina Display.
