However, the device still faces shipment delays in other countries. In Australia, both models are advertised as arriving in 3-5 business days, while European users have to wait 5-7 business days for the 21.5-inch edition and 1-2 weeks for the 27-inch model.

Being identified as ME699LL/A, the device incorporates a cheaper dual-core Intel Core i3 chip clocked at 3.3 GHz and integrated graphics, knocking $200 of the entry-level price and putting the product at $1099. Other specs include a 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM – twice less than featured on the regular machine.

Apple to Ship 12M iPad minis in March Quarter

CCIDNet has reportedly learned from Apple supply chain sources that the company has managed to smooth out iPad mini inventory issues. According to the tipsters, shipments of the smaller tablet may hit as many as 11 million units in the first quarter.

Despite being available in short supply, the new 7.9-inch model performed fairly well during the December quarter, and Apple itself has admitted that it may even be cannibalizing sales of the full-size iPad and desktop Macs. In total, the company sold a record 21 million tablets during the three-month time frame.
