The government office of Taiwan has warned local producers of PCs that a new patent of Apple for its MacBook Air could stop the sales of ultrabook models. In June, 2012, Apple obtained a U.S. patent for designing its MacBook Air gadgets. The representatives from the intellectual property office of the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs are worried that the patent might cause legal problems for the sale of ultrabooks taking into account the fact that the design of thin and light laptops resembles the MacBook Air.

HTC One X and EVO 4G LTE start trickling into U.S.

As first claimed by Engadget, HTC handsets that have been under U.S. Customs review due to an ITC injunction order have started slowly making in into U.S. retail stores. The company refused to reveal which models had been let through. In its recent investor statement, HTC said the status of each individual phone is unknown at the time. U.S. customs must inspect each imported HTC models, which will be released once the check is complete. However, the company still believes the issue will be soon cleared up.

HTC loses ITC power management patent case versus Apple

On Friday, the ITC has turned down the first filing of a set of complaints lodged by HTC against Apple, ruling that the California device maker didn’t infringe on its power management patent. The Taiwanese firm has a right to appeal the decision, though it hasn’t made any announcement of such plans so far. If HTC opts not to appeal, the dismissal could put an end to its lawsuit versus Apple that was first filed in May of 2010 and has been eventually reduced to just one out five initially claimed patents.

Apple scores final victory in ITC case, HTC devices banned

On Monday, the International Trade Commission made a final decision in favor of Apple as to whether its patents were violated by HTC. An administrative law judge upheld the initial ruling that HTC was infringing on two of the ‘647 patent claims. Starting from April 19th, some of the company’s unspecified devices would be banned from sales to give carriers some time to switch to other hardware.

ITC to reexamine one patent in HTC lawsuit against Apple

On Friday, the U.S. International Trade Commission announced that it will review the “no violation” ruling on one of the four HTC’s patents Apple is accused of infringing on. The company’s spokesman didn’t elaborate on the decision, simply echoing Apple’s earlier statement that “rivals should create their own original technology, not copy ours”.
